Planning a girls trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands? St. Thomas and St. John are perfect for a Caribbean getaway filled with beautiful beaches, boat days, good food and fun experiences with friends. We stayed on St. Thomas and used it as our base while exploring more of the islands. In this itinerary, I’m sharing where we stayed, what we did and how we planned our U.S. Virgin Islands girls trip so you can use it to plan your own.
Day 1: Arrive in St. Thomas + Paradise Point
We flew Delta from New York City to St. Thomas, a flight of about four hours. We landed around 12:11 PM and had a pre-arranged taxi waiting to take us to our hotel, The Westin Beach Resort & Spa at Frenchman’s Reef.
After checking in, we headed to Paradise Point Skyride, one of the best places to get panoramic views over St. Thomas and Charlotte Amalie. The ride up is part of the experience, but the views at the top are the real reason to go.
We stayed for sunset and had dinner at Prime at Paradise Point, which was the perfect way to start our St. Thomas girls trip.
Day 2: Glass-Bottom Boat + St. Thomas Scenic Stops
After breakfast at the hotel, we headed out for a glass-bottom boat tour with New Season Watersports. It was an easy way to see some of the marine life around St. Thomas without spending the entire day on the water.
After the boat tour, we explored more of the island and stopped at Drake’s Seat, one of the most popular viewpoints in St. Thomas.
We also visited the Charlotte Amalie Overlook for another beautiful view of the island before heading back to the hotel for dinner and a relaxed evening.
Day 3: Boat Trip to St. John + Pizza Pi VI
Day three was one of my favorite days of the trip. We booked a four-hour boat cruise with Midnight Sun Boat Charters from St. Thomas to St. John.
Along the way, we stopped for lunch at Pizza Pi VI, a floating pizzeria in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Yes, we literally took a boat to get pizza — definitely one of the more unique experiences from this trip.
After returning to St. Thomas, we visited Mountain Top, where we tried their famous banana daiquiris and took in the views.
If you have extra time, you can also add beach time at Coki Beach, Magens Bay or Lindquist Beach.
We ended the evening with dinner at Luna Mar.
Day 4: Secret Harbour Beach + Departure
For our final morning in St. Thomas, we kept things slow and spent a few hours at Secret Harbour Beach.
It was the perfect way to end the trip: beach time, beautiful Caribbean water and no packed schedule before heading to the airport.
If you’re planning a four-day St. Thomas girls trip, I recommend leaving your last morning relatively open so you can enjoy the island without worrying about rushing from an activity to your flight.
Tips for Planning a St. Thomas Girls Trip
Getting there: We flew nonstop from NYC to St. Thomas with Delta. The flight was around four hours.
Airport transportation: Arrange your transportation from the airport ahead of time, especially when traveling with a group.
Where to stay: We stayed at The Westin Beach Resort & Spa at Frenchman’s Reef, which worked well as our base for exploring St. Thomas.
Getting around: Plan transportation when building your itinerary because the places you’ll want to visit are spread around the island.
Book ahead: Boat trips and popular activities are worth reserving before your trip, especially if you’re traveling with a group.
Add St. John: You don’t necessarily need to change hotels to experience another island. We visited St. John as part of our boat day while keeping our hotel in St. Thomas.
Final Thoughts
St. Thomas was such a fun destination for a girls trip because we were able to mix beaches, boat days, scenic viewpoints, good food and a little island hopping into just four days.
