20 Solo Date Ideas in NYC This October ๐Ÿ‚ | NYC Monthly Edit

Hi friends! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿพ

October might be one of my FAVORITE months to be in New York City.

The weather is finally cooling down, fall is in full swing and there are so many things happening around the city that only come around once a year.

And friendly reminder: you do not have to wait for someone to be available to experience them.

So whether you want to dress up and see a show, wander through a corn maze, discover a part of NYC youโ€™ve never seen before or just take yourself somewhere new, here are 20 solo date ideas to try in NYC this October.

Save this email because there is A LOT happening this month. โค๏ธ

Not every solo date needs an event.

Put your headphones on, grab a coffee and spend a few hours wandering NYBG as the leaves start changing.

Donโ€™t skip the 50-acre Thain Family Forest or the Gardenโ€™s maple collection.

This would also pair perfectly with Dรญa de los Muertos if you want to do both in one visit.

โœจ 14. Have an Immersive Art Date

๐Ÿ“ Arte Museum New York

If you want an indoor solo date, ARTE MUSEUM is a huge immersive digital-art experience built around projections, light, sound, mirrors and even scent.

One of my favorite reminders about living in NYC: Broadway is right here.

Pick a show youโ€™ve been saying you want to see, dress up and GO.

Trying to save money?

Check TKTS Times Square under the red steps at Broadway & W 47th St for discounted same-day Broadway and Off-Broadway tickets.

Make the show the surprise and choose from whatโ€™s available that day.

๐ŸŽป 16. Dress Up for the New York Philharmonic

๐Ÿ“ David Geffen Hall

10 Lincoln Center Plaza

I love a solo date that gives me a reason to GET DRESSED.

๐Ÿ“ David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center

The New York City Balletโ€™s fall season continues into October with programs including Contemporary Choreography, Eclectic and All Balanchine.

๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ 18. Go to a Candlelight Concert

๐Ÿ“… Multiple October dates

๐Ÿ“ Greenwich Village

Itโ€™s October. Weโ€™re allowed to be a little spooky. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Book an evening walking tour through Greenwich Village and learn about the neighborhoodโ€™s ghost stories, historic buildings and darker history.

There are several operators offering ghost tours, so compare the route, duration, reviews and price before booking.

๐Ÿ’ก Pick an evening tour and grab dinner in the Village beforehand.

๐ŸŽƒ 20. End October at the Village Halloween Parade

๐Ÿ“… Saturday, October 31, 2026

โฐ Starts at 7 PM

๐Ÿ“ Sixth Avenue, Greenwich Village

This isnโ€™t just something you have to WATCH.

You can actually join the parade.

Costumed participants can line up around Canal Street & Sixth Avenue from 6:30โ€“9 PM, and joining the general parade is FREE. Only people in costume can march. (NYC Village Halloween Parade)

Donโ€™t want to march?

Watch along Sixth Avenue between King Street and West 15th Street. The parade runs approximately 7โ€“11 PM, and the official site warns that the Bleecker-to-14th Street section gets especially crowded. (NYC Village Halloween Parade)

No date needed. Put on a costume and take yourself. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŽƒ

โค๏ธ A Little Reminder Before You Go

One thing Iโ€™ve learned from traveling solo and living in NYC is that waiting for someone else to be available can make you miss a lot of life.

You donโ€™t have to do all 20.

Pick one thing youโ€™ve never done before this month and take yourself.

Go to the show.

Book the ticket.

Try the restaurant.

Explore a different neighborhood.

Get dressed just because.

You might be surprised by how much you enjoy your own company. โค๏ธ

Iโ€™ll be back next month with another list of NYC solo date ideas for November.

Until then, come live life through me. โœจ
